Case in point: when you posted that comment, it instantly sent a notification to my gmail account, which instantly notified my Google Talk application which instantly popped up a message in the bottom of my screen which instantly diverted my attention from wikipedia, where I had strayed so hopelessly far from what I had originally looked up ("Haloform Reaction") that when I returned to my chemistry practice exam an indeterminate number of minutes later I had to flip through the pages trying to remember where I was.
I think I should turn this off now.</description>
